There’s a New Local Products Shop in Arkville

May 28, 2021

Handmade leather bowl

There’s a new spot to buy local products in Arkville, just in time for summer! Adam Johnson recently set up a section for local food and handmade products in part of the Debari Floors building.

While one side of the store still sells flooring, the other half houses Adam’s handmade wooden bowls and jars, along with his handcrafted leather items, including wallets, bowls, keychains, and handbags. (His Hellin A. handbags are a hot commodity at the Emerson.)

Homemade flavored popcorn in bags

In addition to leather and woodworking, Adam has ventured into the baking business. He has fresh bread, rolls, popcorn, potato chips, cookies, and fudge for sale. He had me try a few test foods while I was there – the rolls are super soft and tasty!

If you visit on Saturday, May 29, they’ll have free popcorn samples available at the official opening. Adam has some creative flavors like chocolate, grape, and blue raspberry, so this is a great opportunity to try them for yourself.

There are some great foods available from other locals, as well. Clark Farms milk, Millbrook Maple syrup (a.k.a. the best syrup), and honey from Grand Gorge are all on the shelves. There are eggs, beef, pork, and chicken for sale from D and D Farms. Bagged ice is available, too.

Adam plans to bring in more goods based on interest – so if you know of a local product you’d like featured, let him know. He hopes the shop will become a go-to place for people to buy many different fresh, local Catskills items conveniently.

I’ve included a few pictures from the shop, but the supply is always changing. To check out what’s available, stop by the store at 44911 Route 28 in Arkville. They’re open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. every day. You can give them a call at 845-586-4519 with any questions.
